Nestled in the heart of our williamsburg, we stumbled upon Black Bird Bakery, a hidden gem that left us utterly enchanted. The moment we stepped inside, the scent of freshly baked bread wafting through the air wrapped us in a warm, comforting embrace. It was an olfactory symphony that hinted at the deliciousness awaiting us.
Their 'almond-croissants' were nothing short of an amazing. The first bite, and it was clear that they were indeed "to die for." Flaky layers, a delicate buttery aroma, and a hint of sweetness that danced on our taste buds
But it wasn't just the almost-croissants; everything at Black Bird Bakery had an air of freshness that's rare to find. The bread, in particular, was a showstopper. Every loaf that emerged from their ovens seemed like it had been plucked from the pages of a culinary fairytale. The crust was golden and crunchy, while the interior was tender and aromatic – the epitome of freshly baked perfection.
This serendipitous encounter turned us into instant fans. Black Bird Bakery has made new customers out of us, and the excitement didn't stop there. Even our new pup Logan couldn’t resist the temptation.
So, if you're in search of a bakery that's a slice of heaven on earth, Black Bird Bakery is the place to be. Trust us, your taste buds will thank you.
Where to start?
First off Blackbird Bakery is down an adorable alleyway in an older building with a quaintness and class reminiscent of something you’d see in Europe.
The quality of detail in the esthetic of the space does not go unnoticed.
The food? Well it took us 15-20minutes to decide because it was an internal battle of wanting everything and being so enticed by the look and smell of everything that making a decision was very difficult.
Ended up ordering some Canneles, cruffins, and a chocolate croissant.
Wow oh wow.
Sooooo good! The Cruffin was just a delicious experience and I personally could have eaten everyone they had made for the day because they were so delicious.
But I think the choice of location and the friendliness of the staff really brought everything together to create just a very endearing and delicious experience.
We will definitely be back.
Love blackbird bakery! I think it’s so fun that their bombolini are only available in two flavors each day. I look forward to seeing the new calendar each week with new flavors.
Decent looking pastries but they don’t really do coffee- just drip coffee and cold brew. Also doesn’t really look like there’s anywhere to sit in the cafe. Weird. Maybe people don’t drink coffee with their pastries in the mid Atlantic? Went elsewhere.
Daily pastries, breads and some special items of the day.
Blueberry muffin was buttery, good enough to eat cold and I didn't save any to warm up later with some butter.
Cinnamon Roll with (light cream cheese?) frosting as good as it gets.
Bombolone and quiche are a must if you're lucky enough to be there when they make them.
Located in the parking lot side entering behind the peanut shop basking robins etc. .not in yhe middle of the plaza like Google map said. The phone number it's not their direct number they have a pizzeria/sister shop owned I guess . btw.
2.5 stars . Here's why
I try to get and try as much as I can to do a proper rating. I don't go to places try 1 item and give stars.... enough said . If you follow me you know ... here's what I got . A pice of Banabread - very harsh very dry don't it maybe 2 days old, the banana they put on top candied it's rock hard the texture of the cake was hard dry very sad. And I adore banana cake that's one of my top choices. Easy to make but .... This was BAD. they have a series of petite cake absolutely adorable and tempting to the view they sold 2 for 2.50 or 4 for 4 something.. I got the Pettit pistachio, 2 passion fruit and the raspberry. They where ok not excellent but edibles not to dry not to dense they have about 2 layers of the jam and the the 2 layers of cake covered and topped with a white chocolate flower some the "pistachio" coffee bean on top etc... then I I the "house specialty chocolate coconut cake " I'm raw honest on reviews man and this is horrible . The butter cream was pure unsalted butter not coconut flavor what so ever. Xxx They put coconut flakes between layers not even roasted or caramelized sugar roasted nothing. And then the chocolate cake was miserable but to the point it taste moldy dreadfully flavors water very watery. NOW , the blueberry topped with lemon glazed BLUNT was 3 out of 5. I belive this was the most normal cake so it was simple and average 3 start for using real blueberries and for the lemon sugar coated taste like actual citric. Finally I leave this one for last cause it was the first I tried and shock me. I had try flourless tart cake in the past , several of them. I found them very unique and absolutely cute for vegan people 😍. Now this one in particular its whole cacao...choclate . It's so dense I only could eat 1 spoon of it and closed the rest for the week. (When I say this I mean like maybe will eat again) It was not bad but it's so dense you do NOT want to eat more it's like eating the raw cacao bean and who ever tried the cacao bean raw before know what I'm talking about . So pure, heavy dense ,so thats the taste . 2.5 out of 5 . Probably won't come back again unless they are serving lavender or carot cake but I would think about it twice . Overall the prices are between 2 and 4 dollars a pice.they have sour dough bread, huge cookies .little tiny macaroons , beer, jam in the jar drinks. And the ambience it's very dark goth chilling 1800 vibe witchy place. Wich I loved. But taste wise 2.5 start plus employees need to be more bubbly I felt like I was in an actual 1800 witch cabin kind of people vibe lol. sincerely.

We ordered the blueberry cake, pumpkin twist, and cinnamon roll bomboloni. I went back in and ordered two more pumpkin twist!!! My sister and mom loved the bomboloni, said it was the best thing they've eaten our week long trip. They were tempted to go back late to see if the apple pie bomboloni was out yet, but we never made it back.
We're picky when it comes to baked goods but we'd probably order more than half the items display, everything looked amazing!
A few tables outside, standing room only inside while waiting in line.
There wasn't much in the bakery but we were also there at 3:30 in the afternoon. I imagine most of it was sold already. Very good chocolate torte !
